&lt;p&gt;Key accountabilities span the areas of Medical Staff Leadership and Governance, Clinical and Program Planning, Performance, Quality and Reporting; Research and Academic Leadership, External Collaboration, Professional Practice, Engagement, and Resource Stewardship. The CMO provides medical leadership for quality, safety, and clinical governance, ensuring adherence to clinical standards and advancing continuous improvement through performance measurement and reporting.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This position also holds responsibility for financial stewardship, including oversight of the Medical Affairs budget, resource planning, and the effective utilization of resources.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Key priorities include developing and executing a medical staff workforce plan aligned with the Cancer Care Strategic Plan, co-leading a provincial clinical services plan, reducing referral-to-consult wait times, strengthening care coordination, and advancing research, innovation, and academic partnerships. The CMO fosters regional and provincial collaboration to improve access to care closer to home, including expanding clinical trial access and shared-care models with Primary Care, while leading clinical leadership reviews, recruitment, succession planning, and system-wide improvements in patient-centered care.&lt;/p&gt;

As an Oncologist at the McMurtry-Baerg Cancer Centre, you will be part of a close-knit team of physicians, clerical staff, nursing staff, pharmacists, social workers, and dietitians. &amp;nbsp;You will be able to easily access the local surgeons, radiologists and pathologists to discuss cases, and will have flexibility with your clinic schedule. &amp;nbsp;As a BC Cancer Medical Oncologist, you will have the support of provincial tumour groups, and provincial and regional tumour board conferences are available for case discussions. &amp;nbsp;You also have the opportunity to support clinical trial enrollment, increasing research and care opportunities. Membership on the faculty of UBC is encouraged; our centre participates in the UBC Southern Medical Program and we encourage second year, third year ICC medical students and Family Practice/Internal Medicine to residents to rotate through on their electives. &amp;nbsp;Vernon is also involved as a site in the CAMO Community Oncology Bursary program.&lt;br&gt;

Eligible applicants have obtained Fellowship standing with the Royal College of Physicians &amp;amp; Surgeons of Canada in Internal Medicine, or accepted equivalent if International, and have obtained or are working towards a certificate of Special Competence in Medical Oncology or accepted equivalent. &amp;nbsp;Applicants must also be eligible for licensing with the College of Physicians &amp;amp; Surgeons of British Columbia and meet the requirements of credentialing by the Medical Advisory Committee of the BC Cancer. &amp;nbsp;In addition, applicants must be eligible for a clinical appointment in the Division of Medical Oncology in the Department of Medicine at the University of British Columbia and for appointment to the Medical Staff at Vernon Jubilee Hospital.&lt;br&gt;
