    BC Cancer is looking for a full time or part time Medical Oncologist to join our experienced team of two Medical Oncologists and three General Practitioners in Oncology at the McMurtry-Baerg Cancer Centre in Vernon.

    Eligible applicants have obtained Fellowship standing with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada in Internal Medicine, and have obtained or are working towards a certificate of Special Competence in Medical Oncology.  Applicants must also be eligible for licensing with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of British Columbia and meet the requirements of credentialing by the Medical Advisory Committee of the BC Cancer.  In addition, applicants must be eligible for a clinical appointment in the Division of Medical Oncology in the Department of Medicine at the University of British Columbia and for appointment to the Medical Staff at Vernon Jubilee Hospital.

    We are currently seeking a full-time, 1.0 APP funded, medical oncologist to join our existing group of four medical oncologists, two hematologists, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, a drug navigator, social workers and dieticians. The position is expected to start on March 1, 2022. Responsibilities of the successful applicant will include:

    • The treatment and management of patients with a variety of cancer diagnoses in a clinic, office, and hospital setting with a predominant focus on solid tumour oncology (breast, GU, GI, Lung, limited melanoma)
    • Performing diagnostic or therapeutic procedures such as thoracentesis and paracentesis. (Interventional radiology assistance is available when needed) 
    • Participation on multidisciplinary tumour boards
    • Shared on-call, which includes: seeing new oncology referrals for patients admitted to hospital or the emergency department, support to patients admitted to Oak Valley Health including virtual consultation to Uxbridge Hospital. (There is no responsibility or expectation to do Internal Medicine call)
    • Support the academic mandate which includes the training of family medicine, medical oncology trainees and many other professions, as well as actively expanding its research program including open phase 3 clinical trials

    Qualifications/Experience:
    • An independent license or eligibility for an independent license from the College of Physicians and Surgeon of Ontario 
    • Medical Oncology subspecialty certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or equivalent qualifications

    The Saskatchewan Cancer Agency provides leadership in health promotion, early detection, treatment and research for cancer. The Cancer Agency operates two treatment centres: the Allan Blair Cancer Centre in Regina and the Saskatoon Cancer Centre.

    Job Duties: Cancer Agency medical oncologists provide care as members of teams, which include nurses, pharmacists, radiation therapists, oncologists, clinical associates, general practitioners in oncology, surgeons, social workers, volunteers, patient advisors, and palliative care staff. Cancer care is extended to surrounding communities through the Community Oncology Program of Saskatchewan. Oncologists are supported by clinical associates for inpatient and on-call responsibilities. Participation on clinical trials in collaboration with cooperative groups and industry is a major focus of activity for our oncologists. They are members of cooperative clinical trial groups as Alliance, NCIC CTG, and NRG. Oncologists are also involved in teaching medical students and residents.

    The Department of Oncology, Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University and Hamilton Health Sciences are currently recruiting an Academic Hematologist specializing in malignant blood disorders to join the Division of Malignant Hematology. The focus of this position is in myeloma and/or lymphoma. 

    Applicants should be certified, or eligible for certification in Hematology, by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Candidates must have an MD or equivalent, and must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the province of Ontario. Academic rank and appointment category will be commensurate with training and experience.

    Qualifications:
    Qualifications include an MD, certification in Internal Medicine, special competency in Medical Oncology/ Hematology (or equivalent), additional specialized training and experience in Malignant Hematology and eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta.

    Candidates should have additional specialized training in the area of malignant lymphoid disease, as well as training and experience with cell therapy (BMT and CarT). Familiarity with early drug development/phase1 would be an asset.
